A year of asking better questions of your own practice
365 Days of Reflective Practice. A daily online journal for mediators and conflict resolution practitioners.
$60 + GST · AUD (printed)
“Most practitioners were told to reflect. Few were told how, or given anything to reflect on beyond whatever went badly that week. So reflection becomes occasional: after the difficult case, before the accreditation renewal, and rarely in between.”
This journal makes it daily. One prompt a day, three questions, one small action. Five minutes if that is what you have. Longer if a question catches on something.
What you get each day
The Prompt
A moment in the room. A concept from the field. A move you make without thinking. An ethical dilemma with no clean answer. Some days, a question about you.
Three Questions
The first asks you to describe what happened. The second asks whether you did it well. The third asks whether the rule underneath it is right — the one most of us skip.
The Do
One action small enough to take into your next session. Move a chair. Count something. Ask one person one question.
The year has a shape
The 365 days move through four sections of thirteen weeks each.
Weeks 1–13
Noticing
Asks what is actually there.
Weeks 14–26
Questioning
Asks why you work the way you do.
Weeks 27–39
Unsettling
Turns to harder material: failure, bias, harm, and doubt.
Weeks 40–52
Integrating
Asks what has changed and what you are carrying forward.

Day 23
Trust
Parties are asked to trust a stranger with something they have not been able to solve themselves.
Ask
What did you do in your last process that earned trust, and how do you know it worked?
Ask
What do you do when you can feel a party does not trust you?
Ask
Do you need parties to trust you, or to trust the process? Which have you been building?
Do
Ask one person you work with what made them trust you.

Reflective practice you can point to
“A year of it is 365 structured reflections across seven domains of practice.”
The three-question structure follows an established model of reflective practice, moving from description to single loop to double loop learning.
Seven domains: casework, concepts, skills, embodied awareness, ethics, professional identity and wellbeing.
If your professional scheme recognises structured private reflection for continuing professional development, this gives you a documented method. Check your scheme’s rules.

Frequently asked
questions
Do I need to install anything?
No. The journal runs in your web browser, on a computer, tablet or phone.
What if I miss days?
Nothing happens. There are no dates, no streaks and no catching up. Pick up where you left off.
Can I use it across my phone and my laptop?
Your writing stays on the device where you wrote it, so most people choose one device and stay with it. The export button gives you a complete copy of your journal any time, on any device you have used.
Is my writing private?
Yes. Your answers are saved in your own browser, not on our servers. We cannot read them. The same design means you are responsible for backups: clearing your browser data clears the journal, so export a copy now and then.
Is this the same as the printed workbook?
The same 365 days. The workbook gives you paper, a pen and space to write by hand. The online journal gives you typing, autosave and export. Some people will want both. Order a printed workbook version for $60+GST including postage.
How long do I have access?
12 months from date of purchase.
